Please share your stories on who inspired you to play ZC and who has helped you in the past or is currently helping you!

Tech[BF]

Warning!: Kinda long and boring read.

I started playing zc in 2006 (Pub only). Duhquonz was the first to ever show me the basics of zc. How to control units, when to attack, etc. People used to always ask "are you senmon?" and I did not know wtf they were talking about ever. Although I did not know what senmon was, I soon realized that it was associated with good ass players. Then one day in 2007 I was in a pub with liquid and he told me to go to channel senmon. This is where I started meeting other people, started playing innys, and learned about zctour. I played a lot with hiperlose and supercao, but my first real sc friend was bratizbak. We both wanted to get better, and we both practiced a lot in test builds and watching lots of reps. I remember our goal was to make protoss base by 9 minutes.

I started playing more innnys and Law was the first to actually mentor me with zerg. He showed me pretty much everything; explained builds/timing, gameplay, tech usage, and even how to use the attack command (which i never even knew about). I eventually joined BF where I met ghost, who helped me take my z to another level.
I have to give props to BF because without law and ghost, my z would be as bad as tankas right now.

I starting playing terran, and learned a lot from Lisa and prime. I went from 5 lates to over ten lates.

This past summer I learned how to p from kyu. Watching lots of zct reps, doing test builds. Challenging other players like omar, pain, marco, etc. Kyu pretty much gave me everything I needed to know in order to make my p good.

As of now my biggest mentor overall would probably be Jay and my terran is slowly getting better thanks to lisa. I consistently watch reps with these two; going over game play, what I did wrong, studying other players, etc.

Special note: I learn from everyone, I have taken something from everyone and incorporated it into my game play someway somehow. ex. PH taught me that "l" means left and "r" means right. Who wouldve known that thats what it meant???!

there were many people who inspired and helped me in zc but im going to list the top five in order:

LoH]SaY.1 - my most important inspiration and tutor. inspired me and first told me to come to op senmon when i was still playing fmp and just played a single zc game. he taught me basics of p & z, showed me builds, and strats. He took me under this wing and without his help, i would never be the player i am today. Still the only p i ever seen that can handle a game on his own

Tapsilog -  Second most important inspiration. Starcraft got real fun when i met this guy. he was nice to me and inspired me to play better

Demure - Even tho he always sabos me and always blames me for stuff just to get me mad, he helped me ever since i met him. he would always bm me (still does) but it was "tough love" as he would call it.

trippy- guy taught me zerg. one of the best zerg in the game

arie- i have more reps of her p than anyone else (except sae). i would always watch her p and learned alot from them

special mentions: expergamer - taught when i was really noobie
Surya - taught me p and how to storm (lol)
Lefty- taugh me zerg base that i currently use

thanks to all these people mentioned above!

korean you forgot "mystery- without him i'd still be tosss137"

Ah-Lee

ROFL @ Mystery.

My story begins by playing a ZC, i was so bad people used to kick me out of games *COUGH* infinity[fdu] who i still think is a dick, and suck too back then.
However, l3v3l was the one who actually brought me to senmon. Like tech said i used to practice  a lot and Kyu helped me out too.

The only person who i actually learned from was SurYa[FDU] , Ghost[BF] & Law[BF]
i started out as Z then got good and so on, but then i started to be "1 racer" and i didnt like that :/ so law taught me how to P and so did Kyu but they both were not that supportive . When i find out about ZCT i began to talk to Surya (Yea he PM first, and we f a'ed) So there i was in channel alone with surya talking about protoss.
I remember the first chat it was all about "Money, Swag and G". *sigh* and yea eventually he taught me secrets and my P Was at his level at one point (When i used to pvp i would win :) ) but now its all shitty.

I learned Terran by myself :) Eventho i used to watch stephy and scott practice i would learn too... but yes...w.e.

Now i completely suck :/ idk why and no body wants to teach me :( oh well

Special mentions :Jay who taught me some "stuff" ptz etc.

law[bf]

Joe aka Expertgamer, he was my first "pro" player in my list (terrandude/garbler).

Thx joe! to made me the emo player i am today.

dfzddd

Played this game on and off for several years now and i recognize a lot of you from your previous names. When i started out in zc i remember seeing the name 'garbler' because he would always host games and was always online and because the name reminded me of baby food. Also some dude called 100poos whose name has stuck with me for some reason. Back then everyone who was good at zc would be good through being a one-racer, namely toss, which makes sense because in a game environment that lacks structure or teamwork the most versatile and easiest race to play is protoss and so that's what most good players picked by default. In 2006 i would play in these pubs while consistently doing the protoss + recall thing and i remember coming across such players as johnnycage, tapsilog, and falconraiden. My favorite game host was probably requiem_26e (law). At this point we were all basically on the same level and indistinguishable from other frequent pubbers like newtothis, the_builder, and many others whose names i can't remember. Conanthereaver appeared godly, and a cut above. This was probably the most fun time in zc for me because things were simple. Just build arbs to recall and freeze, have a few templars to devastate zergs, and usually terrans were too inept and uncoordinated with their teammates to be a serious threat. Then in 2007 i met the player pankake and he introduced me to senmon. That summer i saw my first inny game and made and internalized my first inny build for protoss which as a pub was the only race i knew how to play. I played in a handful of innys but i really sucked. But i remember some guy by the name of ewie who sucked even more. Before i left i remember the channel teeming with former pubs like the previously mentioned johnnycage, falcon, and taps. They seemed to like to suck cocks. Then i quit and didn't play for 3 years until i came back in 2010. Played a few months of innys during which time i just stuck with protoss because it was comfortable. Of course then i quit again and now a year later i'm back but every day i pray to god that i can just quit and make it final.

Other players whose old monikers i remember:

wash3r
belushis
CorMotion[swk]
wolfman[bf]
tosss137
[[[tell me yours and it will probably jog my memory]]]

And finally my inspiration is Law for being the indisputable hipster fag of zc and i mean this in the best possible way.

I should have wrote this first lol but here it is.

I started playing SC in 2003, thats almost 10 years.  Like everyone else, I didn't know what exactly what ZC or SC was until some friends from high school introduced me to playing Zero Clutter.  Back then records were important otherwise you wouldn't have been able to joint pub pro games without having a good record.  So with my high school friends, we made comp stomps between us 3  to build our record to like 40-1 or something like that. My first name was "dark_cloud05" cause cloud was my favorite character from final fantasy 7 and [SS] was my first clan I created with my friends "Sisler Spartans".  It was actually woot's brother I played ZC with and he was way better than I was at the time.  You can say I played in 2 different era's in ZC, pre-ZCT and post ZCT/ZCL so I have a couple stories.

Pre-ZCT: 2003-2004
Where to begin, like Lisa said, I'm like a ZC historian, I've beenin  almost every ZC era and I am currently one of the longest active zc players to date along side with atetanka, x_expertgamer_x, ghost[bf], mast-i-kater, megix  who have been around longer than I have.  But it was during the pre-zct era where I really established myself as a "high pro" back then.  2004 summer was one of the most "funnest" ZC summers ever.  It was 2 months of games in west with gabe, BP, sipzz, fcuk, uncas, greesemunkee, leigh, korean[BF], game_geak, pimpz28, mr. meng, terranoxic. It was in op wanagethy where I experienced my longest game ever, 3 hours.... and me and joe still talk about it today. But if it wasn't for lucivar (Leigh) who took me under his wing and taught me toss, I would have never gotten the chances to play in op wanagethy which was THE zc channel in west. Me and Leigh became really close up until I quit in 2004 and he was one of the only people who knew my real name. I was surprised he still remembered it when he posted his last msg on the ZCT forum; I'm happy he's still alive.   I originally came from east since I lived in wpg before and it was Ghost[BF] who accepted me which is why we have sucha close bond til this day.  Back then, the person to beat was Korean[BF].  Top 5 T had to be romper[bf], korean[bf], emporersean[BF], blackpresident, sipzz, imo.

Post ZCT/ZCL 2008-Present.
When ZCT first game out, I played maybe 5-6 games in ZCT1 but never really committed myself back in 2006 since it was my grad year and I was hitting puberty, growing dickhair, an interest in girls, and figuring out what I wanted to do after high school. But it wasn't until I finished my program at school in 2008 fall, I decided to make a comeback.  It seemed like ZCT was at its prime and pr1me needed to make a return. I didn't recognize ANY of the players when I arrived in ZCTour and I didn't know what to expect.  I thought people would recognize me or at least remember me from back then but nope, ZC was taken over by guys like loh]say.1 Surya[MB] Killer[BB] arie GN[FDU] tr0uble looose.  It wasn't until uncas came around and showed me some replays of the current games of today (2008). Never heard the terms of high pro and low pro before until I returned and yeah I was definitely a low pro lol so it was back to the drawing board, obsing games, saving replays, studying replays; I had to work myself back up again.  I have to give thanks to arie, my jukebox, for letting me play with them.  I wouldn't have gotten as good as fast as I did if I never played with their inner circle of high pros and plus my 6-7 seasons of 80 games plus.

It was those players mentioned above that got me as good as I am now.  I remember me and GN didn't get along that well back then because I made a pretty dumb statement "Strikeforce Heavyweights are better than UFC heavyweights" (what was I thinking) and the fact that I sucked so bad... but after a few months of hardcore gaming and keeping my mouth shut, taking in BM, smartening up, me and GN ended up becoming really close and all I got is <3 for that guy. Every zerg tactic this guy knows, he implanted into me, I wouldn't know how to play Z as good as I can without this guy. Plus after refining my gameplay/gamestyle, I don't believe we have ever lost a game together, esspecially with sherri as our T, surya killer trippy aint got shit on us.  We even got a rep of me maur BAM beating surya killer trippy, sup?

Now these two guys really helped smarten up my gameplay tremendously, Yan and Moe (looose and Surya). Like Maur, me and yan would finish games in 13 mins. Surya basically reminded me to keep my awareness up and just gaming with Yan countless times, we developed a sort of teamwork skill.  There are things they did teach me but I wrote too much already. Plus Surya's canadian and Yan loves girls and beer as much as I do haha.

I'm at the point where I would rather just teach or help out players in ZC just so there is more competition and only play in GG's since I find there is less communication in GG's compared to  other games since everyone has basic knowledge of what to do. I'm getting lazier to talk in game, but I still do enjoy the ZC community which is why I decided to continue and help contribute to ZCL as much as I can.  Enjoy!

I started in 1998 before blizzard separated east/west servers rofl... Played for on/off every couple years til now.

I honestly hardly remember anythinggg from the beginning of sc since i was so young and didn't really pay attention to the people in it. I just played pubs and later found that i was deemed the name "pub". I played with people like chicky-, xxfranchise, arie, dancran1220, phate16, losealot69, desertfox, fakk2 (knew fakk before he joined bf). Those were the names I remembered, whom inspired me.

Soon, I would not see arie and dancran for a while and realized they abandoned me for this arcanum of a league called "ZCTour". This was foreign to me and it would be a little while before I saw the true top players of zc.

In the beginning of my career, it was mostly members of MB and BF clans that made me have the motivation to play. Fakk2, Expert, Ghost, shit I cant remember, but I just knew that since channel "op xbloodfangx" was private, they had to be good rofl. Game_geak,  pimpz28, arie, dan, all those were mah heroes. tr0uble was a jerk and will never forgive him for his bm and hunting.

Not really sure which year I started playing but I think it was around the '2002-'03 mark, basically played random maps whatever was available on list till which I found ZC on there and liked the format of the gameplay. Pub'd it up for few weeks till I learned the hotkeys/builds and since my gaming time was late (for u.s) got to know the people who played during my timezones to which one of them was 308inches who said I was "good" and invited me to WaNaGeThY to which it was just him and mkt99 that created the channel for people who liked and was good at ZC. For months we played pubs and invited anyone who which we considered "Pro" this is how I met Lucivar (Dragonstar666) and because he was an Aussie we played alot due to our similar timezones.

I would have to say Lucivar was the one who inspired me to play SC more because he always made games fun and was always raping pubs consistantly and hey who doesn't like winning on a regular basis but he was so far ahead in terms of game play/build then 95% of the pubs during that time and imo created the style that has evolved into the style we played today based on how he started it.

As far as logical thinking and situation based actions Qwertisk takes the cake, he taught me alot about how important microing is in ZC and how the little things count and go along way to winning a game, I didn't know Uncas during this time but he helped me alot also later on but during my early years I looked upto Q.

To me the game has to be fun and it wasn't always about winning for me but the enjoyment of playing with the people who didn't take it so seriously and to this point besides from Lucivar I enjoyed playing with fcuk.authority & nubi.net alot due to their idgaf attitude and they always took pride in beating people who had to win and to those during the beginning of ZCT who used to try to protect there record and thus gave birth to the a newer style of game play.. Sabo'ing. Nothing made me lol as much as the aftermath of someone losing who absoultely hated losing.. the aftermath of that trumpt winning games easily.

To the later stages/current I enjoyed playing with the likes of..

Say (fun to bm-play with)
Trouble (mm rushing shenanigans)
Chops (was funny even though fish tattoo on arm)
Byu (cuz he raped with eased)
Cheap_Bum (intentionally do things to annoy)
Bartion. (used to bm like a boss)
doc[bf] (only BF I liked back then)
Arie (fun to UMS with)
Torment (cuz pitty)
Uncas (Reppin' late nights)
cho2 (the guy was a total dickhead but he made ZCT funny when he was around.
thatsCrAzY (genuine nice guy and #1 all time imo)
