I often think about how in the heck ZCL died out of nowhere.
Starcraft came out in 1998, and they finally made the game run on modern OS and even made it free. Not to mention they upscaled the graphics to up to 4K.
ZC was inching along barely surviving from the years 2013-2016. I remember Kyung messaged me on Facebook as recent as December 2016 asking me to game. He said games were coming back. There was a very small community compared to the hundreds that played ZC constantly around the 2005-2010 era. But you could still get a few inhouse games a week if you signed on at night when everyone was home.
Then suddenly with the news of SC being free, we got the community back up almost to atleast 40%. Enough for Mystery to email everyone that used this site to come back. The league was restarded even!
At the time I was excited! My lifes been pretty great, and I have plenty of modern games on PS4.. but the thrill of owning in ZC was missing. It seemed like SC Remastered coming out, the community would get even bigger! And broke mo-fo's would still come by because "Lost my CD key bruhhhh" and play the free version.
Then out of nowhere almost as shocking as the Trump presidency, ZCL died out of nowhere. I have my culprits. And I have blamed them to their face. We all know the people that killed ZCL because they wanted a little more attention and a few more points, even though, if you notice, all those crying about the league being corrupt, were infact on most peoples top 10 lists.
But that wasn't enough for them. They wanted, in my opinion, attention and chaos.
Anyway, how do we FIX this? Well there is only one way, slowly. We slowly start to pub again, form a mutual-friends list with a small community. And keep this forum alive for those lurkers in "Guest" mode that come here once a week. I see you

It was me, i destroyed zcl. slowly but surely i showed you all my true power....I stopped playing because every time i asked for a zcl game no1 would message me back or even try, so i quit. i haven't looked but shit, i'm still probably the last post on league?

When Mystery switched servers. ZC was becoming extremely active in June. We even had 2 games at the same time.

Starcraft, my favorite game. There is something about this game that sucks you in. Well for me I couldn't get enough of it. It was my life for many years. I played countless hours met so many people over the years. If it were possible I told myself I would never quit. I always wanted to be good at it and hated losing. I'm sure everyone I played with knows this. Now that I can no longer take part, I still have the memories. I personally think it's great what we've done take a great game and turn it into something that we all came back for day after day year after year. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that was apart of this experience with me I'll truly miss you guys.

Bingo Thank you Joe for highlighting a mental illusion that everyone uses. You said you "can no longer take part" yet you are on this site typing a paragraph, you probably watch TV and "take part" in that. You probably waste hours a week on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Hell, I know for a fact you "take part" in looking for the best porn video to jerk off to. Maybe a good 20 mins to find the perfect video.
Case in point - We have the time we MAKE for. I'm still a college student, working full time, have a gf, and still go out with friends. The excuses are just bullshit.
